Although I never saw this vet, I just wanted to note that it is standard procedure for vets to deny service if the owner does not have the funds. It is not standard procedure to have the option of surrender, although many do. Also, yes, if you look at their page they often DO have heinz 57 mixes up for adoption and even cats.
STAY AWAY .....
Today it is 1 year that our Dog lost her Life to these peoples greediness.
I wished they would just go out of business before they can harm more
pets and people. RIP Maggie Bear. We will always love and never forget
you.
Stay as far away from this place and Dr. Ramos-Rivera as you.
they are greedy and heartless with no compassion. My Dog lost her life because of it.
Dr. Ramos-Rivera did not even give me the time a day, talk to me and get to know me and my Life situation.
As a Doctor they take an oath to save a Life. I was told to apply for a Care Credit Card,
since they are not doing any payment plans for expensive surgeries estimated $1200.00
After I made the hardest decision of my Life to put my Dog to sleep I was offered to surrender her.
They then perform the surgery for free and then find her a new good home. Excuse me ???
She had a good home with me and if the only other option they give a loving pet owner
that can’t pay the bill for an expensive surgery in once, is to sign their beloved pet is over than this unethical and beyond cruelty. They may as well ask for your proof of Income when you make an appointment.
Looking back I am wondering if Dr. Ramos-Rivera would have given me the same “goodhearted offer”
if my Dog would have been a Heinz57 and not a purebred Pembroke Welsh Corgi.
Fact is before I would go there again I’d rather go out of state to find a Vet.
Reasonably priced, responsible care.
My wife and I were new to the area and recently adopted a 3-month old puppy. We took her to a vet that received the "Readers' Choice Award" for the best vet a few years in a row. The vet required several visits to take care of her kennel cough (original diagnosis, stool examination, medication, follow-up) and wanted to charge an unholy amount for her spaying.
We checked around with other vets and decided to take her to the Colonial Park Animal Clinic because the price was fair (not the cheapest, but on the low-end) and the staff was receptive to our questions over the phone. Arriving the day of the surgery, it was a full house in the lobby and there were several other animals/owners waiting to be seen but we were seen fairly promptly in relation to our appointment time and the staff was courteous. The facilities were clean, though parking was scarce. The surgery went very well and they also removed a duclaw while our puppy was sedated. We didn't have any problems post-surgery and the scar healed very well.
I would recommend the vet for people who want their animals to receive good care at an affordable price. In response to the previous post--I appreciate an establishment that honors an appointment time schedule. If you can't show enough respect for the time of the vet and the time of other customers to show up on time to an appointment, you don't deserve to be seen. I wish other places did the same thing instead of inconveniencing everyone else who is unfortunate enough to have an appointment after someone that is tardy for their appointment.
Greedy. I have been a customer for this practice for over 10 years. My dog recently got ill and I called to make a visit for her to be seen. They tell me they have a new procedure. If your pet requires to be seen right away they call it an emergency visit and will now charge a fee of 75 dollars for the visit. I was and am deeply offended. I don't believe you should be charged more to be seen during regular office hours. I will not go back to them after this, I changed vets. I feel if this office needs to increase rates to make more money they should do so across the board to everyone. Not price gouge patients when they become suddenly ill.
