Excellent

The menu is very large, lots of different things to choose from and greatly varies in price to fit everyones budget. The atmosphere at this place is very trendy and hip. The place is gorgeous and it is def. more formal than your typical restaurant. You can average over $60 per couple or as low as $15. Whatever your needs Cafe Fresco is a wonderful place to go. GREAT EXPERIENCE

Food Excellent, Service is the WORST

I frequent this place often as I work downtown. They have some of the best salads, pizza and oatmeal that I have ever had. But the trade off is the service. The girls ( I won't call them ladies) that work there are extremely rude to customers. I always say "thank you" and "please" and NEVER get them in return. Very rarely do I even get a response back (and did I say I frequent this place). Some of their discussions that they have in the morning are NOT appropriate;ie: complaining about other workers and dicussion of bodily functions that I will not repeat.
Maybe you can catch them on a good day and I hope you do because the food is really great but don't let the service detour you from trying them.
- Pros: Food
- Cons: Service
Best Bet Downtown - No Contest

I work nearby and frequent Cafe Fresco in the morning for coffee, for takeout lunch and occasionally for cocktails and dinner. I have NEVER been disappointed. The coffee is delicious, as are the muffins, baked oatmeal and eggs. Lunch is consistently above average, particularly for this area. Their salads are especially good. It does get busy and crowded, but you can always call ahead and pick up your order at the bar. Speaking of the bar, this is a great place to go for happy hour, or anytime for cocktails. Best of all, this joint is SMOKE-FREE. Love love love that. I would go here before anywhere else in the city, except that I go so often sometimes I get burned out on a little. :)
- Pros: Quality of food, ambience, people watching, smoke-free
- Cons: a little pricey, sometimes service can be a little slow
Customer Service not worth the hassle

Cafe Fresco has been a restaurant that I have frequented on several occasions. I keep returning because I like the atmosphere and menu. That all changed tonight.
I took a large group to Cafe Fresco - 16 people in all. The reservation was amended via a phone call during the day, from 15 to 16. When we arrived, the table was set for 15 people. The manager was going to give us another chair and we had to ask him for another full table so 2 people were not sitting on the end of a table. This was a sign of things to come.
We asked our waitresses (we had 2) if we could split the check into 4 separate checks. We were informed Cafe Fresco does not split checks for more than 8 people. When we asked the manager for some help, he told us they cannot split checks for more than 8 people because it would take the servers too long. Allow me to put this into perspective. We had 2 waitresses and at the time we were ordering, only one other table was occupied and they had already ordered. We also had to ask the bar to find our waitresses so we could order.
When we asked the manager if we could put in multiple credit cards, he told us we could, provided the check was split equally among the cards.
Personally, I find the policy of not splitting checks ridiculous. Especially when you consider we could have separated our big table into 4 little tables (hindsight....).
The real rub of the evening was the manager's unwillingness to even meet us half way or compromise at all. It was his behavior that caused all 16 of us to decide we wouldnt be coming back to Cafe Fresco.
I should mention the food here is good, but its simply not worth the customer service. You can get equally good food at a number of other restaurants in downtown Harrisburg. Skip Cafe Fresco. Its not worth the hassle.
- Pros: Ambience, Diverse Menu
- Cons: Customer Service
