Australian tchotchkes and brews give this quintessentially American restaurant a distinctive Down Under flavor.. In Short
Boomerangs, Aussie flags, kangaroo portraits and faux aboriginal art honor the homeland's wilderness, but Outback delivers a polished version of rusticity with varnished blond-wood booths with matching wainscoting and casually uniformed waitstaff. Besides more than a half-dozen cuts of steak, diners can pick from large-portioned entrees like ribs, chops and shrimp or chicken "on the barbie." The Bloomin' Onion, a large onion dipped in batter and deep-fried, is an appetizer with a following.

How to Order a Steak. Although the food wasn't bad - it was the most confusing way to order a steak that I've ever seen. I wanted my steak medium-rare (as I always do) but was told by the server that if I wanted it that way then I should order it rare, so it comes out the way I want it. I said, "No, I want it medium rare". Again I was told that they always recommend ordering less done than you really want it so that the kitchen doesn't over cook it!!! I couldn't belive it! I looked at the server and said, "Tell the kitchen whatever you want to tell them as long as it comes out medium-rare. I don't want to have to send it back to be cooked more." Doesn't make sense - you would think that they could cook the steak correctly the first time!
